Portering officer- Bank

Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a busy Hospital Portering team within the Directorate of Estates, Facilities & PFI. The post holder will be responsible for a full range of Portering duties within the Portering Department at County Hospital. The Portering service is a 24-hour, 365‑day service.

Shift pattern: 7am–3pm, 3pm–11pm and 11pm–7am. You may be asked to work outside these hours to support the department.

Basic pay: £12.92 per hour plus a 12% WTD pay for bank workers.

Additional payments:

• Unsociable hours (20:00–06:00): additional 41% per hour.
• Saturday: additional 41% per hour.
• Sunday: additional 83% per hour.

• Carry out a full range of Portering duties, supporting the department during busy periods and covering annual leave and absences.
• Provide and maintain a professional, efficient, effective and timely service to patients, visitors and departments.
• Assist with patient transfers, waste removal and moving bulky items from various parts of the hospital.

• Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential; full training will be provided.
• Flexible approach to work, smart appearance, good communication skills and a high standard of customer care.
• Ability to undertake long periods of walking and physically demanding tasks.
