Credit Controller

Credit Controller 6-month fixed-term contract East Staffordshire | Up to £36,000 per annum Macildowie are working with their longstanding client in East Staffordshire to recruit an experienced Credit Controller on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established financial services business supporting customers across a range of industries. Working within a busy collections team, you will take ownership of a portfolio of customer accounts, proactively managing outstanding debt, reducing arrears and maintaining positive customer relationships.

The successful candidate will have a proven background in credit control, excellent communication skills and the confidence to manage customer accounts independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

The Role As Credit Controller, your responsibilities will include:
Proactively managing a portfolio of customer accounts and collecting outstanding debt. Contacting customers by telephone and email to resolve overdue payments. Allocating incoming payments accurately and reconciling customer accounts. Investigating payment discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution. Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers. Monitoring outstanding balances and supporting the reduction of early arrears. Providing management updates and producing MI reports where required.

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date customer account records. About You To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate:
Proven experience in a Credit Control position. Strong negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills. Knowledge of creditworthiness and credit monitoring procedures. Confidence in managing multiple customer accounts and prioritising workloads. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Good Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using bespoke systems. A professional and confident telephone manner. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience in consumer debt collection, trade-to-trade collections or asset finance would be advantageous. Previous experience within the construction, agriculture, plant hire or equipment finance sectors would also be beneficial, although this is not essential. Salary & Benefits Salary Additional benefits include:
Employer pension contribution of 15% of salary. 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, pro-rated. Free on-site parking and access to an on-site gym.
