About the role

We are seeking a Senior Planning Officer to join our established and supportive Economic Development and Planning Service at Stafford Borough Council. This is an ideal opportunity to join a dynamic and forward‑thinking planning policy team.

You’ll be at the heart of leading and developing a varied and rewarding New Local Plan workload, helping to deliver high quality services to our communities whilst contributing to an ambitious planning agenda.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the New Local Plan workload, ensuring high quality outputs.
  • Deliver high quality services to local communities.
  • Contribute to an ambitious planning agenda and support the council’s growth aspirations.
Qualifications
  • Significant professional experience of planning policy and research, including development viability and monitoring systems.
  • Qualified to degree level or above in planning with full RTPI membership.
  • Enthusiastic, committed and able to work to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high levels of complex analytical, project management and presentational techniques supported by advanced IT skills.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of statutory regulations and the implications of national policy within a Local Plan context.
  • Enjoy both taking individual responsibility, managing other officers and working as part of a busy Service with ambitious growth aspirations for the future.
