Main duties of the jobYou will be practicing as a SLT within the speciality area of forensic mental health to provide patient‑centred clinical care which will encompass the skills of clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within the professional scope of practice.
You will demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision‑making and specialist care, demonstrating clinical critical thinking to meet the needs of service users.
You will work collaboratively with the wider speech and language team to maintain the delivery of highest quality, integrated speech and language therapy, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure to sustain the delivery of quality, evidence‑based care.
You will have passion, enthusiasm and specialist knowledge of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) for the forensic population.

Job responsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main duties and responsibilities
Clinical – To adhere to and apply the Health and Care Professions Councils (HCPC) standards of proficiency and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) code of ethics and professional conduct and all other guidance from MPUFT. To be professionally accountable and responsible for all aspects of own work.
To establish and maintain effective working relationships both within MPFT and with external organisations in order to meet service requirements and support and demonstrate the Trusts equality values.
To assess new service user referrals and care/support needs. Assesses service users and formulates, develops, implements and evaluates programmes of treatment /care/support for individuals, families and carers.
To use professional knowledge and judgement to take into account the range of care/support packages and treatment options and adaptations available. To consider each service user’s personal circumstances and preferences in order to implement and adjust programmes of care and intervention.
