We’re looking for an organised and detail-focused Payroll Administrator to join a busy and supportive People & Culture team.

You’ll be responsible for supporting the smooth and accurate running of payroll, making sure employees are paid correctly and on time, whilst providing a reliable and professional service to colleagues and managers.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorking alongside the Payroll Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day administrative support across the payroll function. From processing payroll information and maintaining employee records to dealing with queries, supporting pension administration and assisting with statutory payments, you’ll play an important part in keeping everything running smoothly and meeting key payroll deadlines.
- Supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll
- Ensuring payroll deadlines are consistently met
- Maintaining accurate employee payroll records, including starter and leaver information
- Processing payroll changes, deductions and other relevant information
- Assisting with holiday calculations and statutory payments
- Supporting pension administration
- Producing and completing payroll reports accurately and within required timescales
- Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers and resolving issues wherever possible
- Supporting the Payroll Manager with year-end activities and key payroll deadlines
- Keeping payroll systems and employee information accurate and up to date
- Staying informed of relevant payroll legislation and best practice
- Looking for opportunities to improve payroll processes and ways of working
- Ensuring all payroll information is handled with the highest level of confidentiality
- Working in line with company procedures and compliance requirements
- We’re looking for someone who already has some hands-on payroll experience and is ready to build on that within a supportive team.
- You’ll ideally have:
- Around 1-2 years’ recent experience working within a payroll environment
- A good understanding of payroll processes and relevant legislation
- Experience using computerised payroll systems
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at Grade 4-9
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work
- The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
- A professional and approachable manner
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to deal with payroll queries
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
- A high level of discretion when handling confidential employee information
