Job Summary

This is a great opportunity to join the Drake Hall team as a senior psychologist, with the primary responsibilities of working alongside the prison Senior Management Team and leading the Drake Hall Women’s Estate Psychology Service (WEPS) team, whilst also maintaining a clinical caseload focused on reducing risk and increasing safety. The work of WEPS spans core forensic work and a broad range of safety-related activities within women’s prisons and during transition back into the community.

The role also involves parole and sentence planning, and requires a collaborative, strength‑based approach utilising psychological formulation and multi‑agency working to support the needs of staff and women in custody.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Wade Hall Women’s Estate Psychology Service (WEPS) team.
  • Collaborate with the prison Senior Management Team on strategy and service delivery.
  • Maintain a clinical caseload that focuses on risk reduction and safety enhancement.
  • Conduct parole and sentence planning related work for women in custody.
  • Supervise and develop trainee forensic psychologists.
  • Utilise psychological formulation to support staff and prisoners.
  • Engage with multi‑agency partners to coordinate care and support.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years post‑registration experience in psychology (applications accepted from those with at least 18 months experience).
  • Professional psychology background with evidence of clinical supervision experience.
  • Completion of relevant training in effective treatment models and best practice.
  • Full membership of an appropriate division of the British Psychological Society (BPS), or ability to attain such status.
  • Experience in forensic or correctional settings preferred.
