Junior Sister Band 6 Job overview

An excellent opportunity has become available for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and compassionate individual to join the Day Case Unit / Surgical Team at UHNM, based at the County site.

The newly established, purpose-built, state-of-the-art Surgical Day Case Unit is seeking additional dedicated Band 6 professionals to join our management team.

This unit specializes in Day Case Surgery and surgical procedures requiring recovery over a 24- to 48-hour period. Due to the wide variety of surgeries performed, the role offers numerous opportunities for professional development and learning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Band 6 Junior Sister will play a key role in delivering high‑quality patient care within the ward or department. The post holder will provide support to more senior nursing colleagues and assume leadership responsibilities, serving as a role model and supporting team members.

The ideal candidate will be well‑organized, self‑motivated, passionate, and enthusiastic, with excellent communication and interprofessional skills. Flexibility regarding working hours is essential.

Applicants should have at least 12 months of experience working in an acute hospital setting within a surgical department. We seek a dedicated team player who upholds high standards, is committed to patient safety, and strives to enhance the patient experience.
