Would you like the chance to experience special school nursing? we are looking for an experienced paediatric, learning disability or adult nurse to join us. The post is for 22.5 hours Term time only 12 months fixed term.

The team provides holistic nursing care for pupils with a wide range of learning disabilities, physical disabilities and neurological conditions. The successful applicant will work within the Stafford Hub supporting Marshlands and Walton Hall special schools and Greenhall Nursery. Working as a member of a friendly, highly skilled team you will have the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children and young people who have special needs and their families.

You will be responsible for their healthcare needs during the school day and work in partnership with education colleagues in the school and with parents. You will also work collaboratively with the wider Multi Agency Teams to meet health, developmental and safeguarding needs of the children and young people. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly and will need to be able to transport themselves and any equipment to the different locations within the hub.

There will a requirement for travel to other areas/hubs to support with cover and attendance at team meetings and training. Access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.

The post holder will work as part of a team to participate in the delivery of health care and promote the health and welfare of children attending Staffordshire Special Schools and to acknowledge and respect the individual rights and personal dignity of the students. The post holder will work autonomously within their sphere of professional practice, working within teams and service guidelines and objectives.

• To be involved in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care needs in line with the core offer of service.
• To ensure high quality care from the Special School Nursing Service consists of:
  Assessment and review, Hands on clinical care, Key worker and signposting, Excellent communication, Training and supervision, General role in optimising long‑term health and lifestyles, Transition of young people to adult education and services.
• The postholder will also be expected to deputise for the Team Leader at meetings.
