Our Intensive Prevention Service is part of Futures Matter, which supports children and families in Staffordshire. Futures Matter encompasses

What We Do

We believe children are best placed living within their family network, as a team we:

  • provide intense support to children on the edge of care to help them stay at home.
  • we also support Social Workers with the re-assessments of family members to progress family time with the aim being to support children and young people to return home after being in our care. The team also support children to return home where there is an agreed plan of reunification.

Our approach is solution-focused, relational drawing upon strength-based methods of interventions to meet each family's specific needs.

Who We Work With

We partner with social work teams, family support teams, and other professionals, including those in the third sector. Our team is based in Stafford but works across Staffordshire and sometimes beyond.

Our team draws upon a range of specialist skills interventions, including Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused methodology. The team also has a Young Persons Substance Misuse Worker seconded into the team.

Package Description Main Responsibilities

You will :

  • be responsible for supporting young people (8-18 years of age) and their parentsdeveloping a tailored package of support, drawing upon other resources within the team as appropriate to remain or return home to their family.
  • maintain positive relationships, providing high support and high challenge to effect changes in family dynamics to promote stability at home.
  • work restoratively with families, offering an intense and a robust package of support for young people and their families where there is a risk of family breakdown. This may be as a result of Adverse Childhood Experiences, relationship difficulties or where exploitation is a significant risk.
  • take responsibility for the accurate recording of all work undertaken on the electronic file in keeping with the agreed time frames within the Intensive Prevention Service.
  • participate in all team meetings, training, the duty system and in developing the service.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for you to,

  • have experience of working with children / young people and their families within their own homes.
  • have experience of delivering a variety of interventions / direct work to address presenting issues.
  • have a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare or equivalent qualification relevant to working with children and their families.
  • have access to a car at all times where mileage and an essential car allowance is paid.
  • be able to work flexibly which includes working weekends on a rota basis and in an evening to support the children and families that you are working with of which you will receive additional increments.
