ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP® is looking for an Energy Engineer to join our Corporate Measurement and Verification Team. The position will be hybrid with regular travel (up to 75%) to the DC/VA metro area, including overnight stays dependent on project(s) location.
The Energy Engineer is responsible for the development of energy baselines, verifying energy savings, and annual M&V reporting. The role requires expertise in energy saving strategies, statistical analysis, and experience working in vertical markets such as Federal Government, State and Local Government, Healthcare, K-12, and Higher Education. Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities are essential to address best practices in baseline development and performance period energy consumption evaluation.
Responsibilities- Proactively review and interpret problems or patterns related to utility bills and energy consumption to limit risk and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Solve issues or elevate to senior M&V engineering members as appropriate.
- Own and manage tools & processes that ensure timely collection and accurate data entry of utility bills or other monitored consumption sources for M&V portfolios.
- Communicate with technical and non‑technical customers both internal and external.
- Understand Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) and International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) concepts and guiding principles.
- Lead or support development of customer baselines or benchmarks as needed.
- Create high‑quality performance reports that convey added value and cost‑reduction analysis to contract specifications and guarantees (Options A, B, C, D, and Non‑Measured Savings) for the client.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other technical field, or 3+ years proven track record in mechanical systems data collection/operation & building systems or operations.
- Strong statistical analysis skills and excellent interpersonal communication, analytical and business writing skills.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP).
