About the roleWe’re looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join our Repairs & Maintenance team, supporting the management and improvement of A2
Dominion’s housing portfolio.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring our homes remain safe, compliant and well-maintained
, using effective surveying practices and project management. With a focus on damp, mould and disrepair
, you’ll ensure compliance with Awaab’s Law, HHSRS and wider housing legislation
, diagnosing complex issues, managing risk and delivering long-term solutions that improve residents’ homes and wellbeing.
This role is ideally suited to surveyors with experience in social housing, local authorities or residential repairs
, who are confident working in regulated environments and delivering a high-quality, resident-focused service
.
- Surveying & Inspections
:
Carry out property surveys to assess condition, identify defects and manage risks. - Damp, Mould & Disrepair
:
Diagnose and manage cases, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice. - Repairs & Project Management
:
Specify works, manage repairs and oversee minor works projects. - Compliance & Standards
:
Ensure properties meet building regulations, CDM 2015 and HHSRS requirements. - Contract Management
:
Monitor contractor performance, approve out-of-scope works and drive improvements. - Financial Management
:
Manage budgets using NHF Schedule of Rates (M3
NHF), monitor spend and authorise invoices. - Technical Expertise
:
Produce reports, provide specialist advice and support legal/disrepair cases where required. - Customer Focus
:
Lead complaint resolution and deliver strong service outcomes for residents. - Risk Management
:
Monitor cost, programme and health & safety risks across projects. - Case Management Systems: Manage and track cases using Microsoft Dynamics and Total mobile
. - Partnership Working: Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to deliver effective solutions.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Math’s & English (Grades A*
- C) - HNC, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a surveyor within housing, property maintenance or repairs.
- Strong practical experience diagnosing damp, mould, and disrepair
, including legal disrepair cases. - Good working knowledge of Awaab’s Law
, HHSRS, CDM Regulations 2015 and housing legislation - Experience managing contractors, writing specifications and delivering projects.
- Financial awareness including budgets, invoicing and Schedule of Rates (M3
NHF) - Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
- Strong IT skills, including the ability to produce clear, comprehensive technical reports and experience with Dynamics, Total mobile or similar housing management systems.
- Full clean UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
