Job Description & How to Apply Below

Stamford School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Food and Nutrition to join our Food and Nutrition (F&N) Department, starting from September 2026. Stamford values the role of Food and Nutrition in the curriculum, teaching both GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition, and the Leiths CTH Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery. F&N at Stamford is taught by an experienced team of specialist teachers, some of whom hold additional responsibilities.

Our F&N teachers are passionate about the subject: all contribute to the department’s enrichment activities, which include co‑curricular clubs and activities for all year groups.

There is a culture of supportive encouragement within the department, with the aim of continually improving and developing teaching. F&N is well‑resourced, with teaching taking place in dedicated food laboratories at our St Martin’s site. These are equipped with networked electronic whiteboards to support teaching and learning. Teachers and students are each issued with their own devices. In addition to the teaching spaces, the department also benefits from a dedicated study room, prep room and office space.

F&N at Stamford is a subject that encourages healthy living, nutritional science, food safety and cooking skills. Students who opt to study the subject at GCSE follow the OCR GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition specification. It is a popular GCSE choice with 3 or 4 sets in each year group of Year 9‑11. Excitingly, the department also offers the Leiths CTH Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery in the Sixth Form, both as an A Level equivalent qualification and as an enrichment option.

This new offering, which began in September 2025, has already proven enormously popular and demand is projected to continue to increase. The department is forging greater links with local industry and hopes to prepare students for careers in the food industry, including professional cheffing.

  • Able to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, students and parents.
