Competitive Salary Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, this role is critical in ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of plant equipment through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives. As a Mechanical Craftsperson you will play a key role in supporting Heidelberg Materials' Maintenance Improvement Plan (MIP) by carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance across the site. Working both independently and as part of a team, you will help maximise plant reliability while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanical engineer to work on a wide range of heavy industrial equipment, playing a key role in improving plant reliability, safety, and operational performance.
- Performing mechanical inspections and planned maintenance activities
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out corrective repairs
- Supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Participating in daily maintenance planning and MIP meetings
- Working safely and complying with all SHEQ requirements
- Collaborating with colleagues and contractors to deliver efficient maintenance solutions
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of maintenance processes and systems
- We're looking for someone with strong mechanical maintenance experience gained within a heavy manufacturing, industrial, chemical, cement, quarrying, or similar environment.
- Technical skills with:
Pumps, valves, pipework and process systems - Conveyors, bearings, gearboxes and rotating equipment
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Compressed air generation and distribution systems
- Welding, burning and basic fabrication
- Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
- Lifting and pulling equipment
- Workshop machinery including lathes, milling machines and drill presses
- SAP and maintenance management systems
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Maintenance Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
- Completion of a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, process, or engineering environment.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Desirable Experience of using SAP or other Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Additional qualifications in welding, fabrication, hydraulics, pneumatics, or lifting operations.
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a continuous manufacturing environment.
