The Special Assistant works directly with the CEO to grow membership and improve program operations across the JCC, including membership, the Kuriansky Fitness Center, aquatics, enrichment, Kids Place, camp and early childhood.
This position is part of the Office of the CEO, the JCC's leadership development program. Special Assistants work across departments and are considered for permanent leadership roles within 18 to 36 months, based on performance. Likely paths include Assistant Director, Director and Program Director positions in membership and program operations.
We are looking for smart, ambitious people who learn quickly, enjoy working with members and want to run a department.
Key Responsibilities- Carry a new membership sales goal; give tours, follow up with prospects and sell memberships
- Convert program families into members and run renewal and win-back outreach
- Track membership, retention and enrollment data, and report trends and recommendations to the CEO
- Lead programs during vacancies, leaves and peak seasons across Fitness, Aquatics, Enrichment, Kids Place, Camp and Early Childhood
- Help lead the move to a new membership and registration platform, including data cleanup and staff training
- Write operating procedures for front desk, registration and programs, and train staff on them
- Conduct facility walkthroughs and follow through on safety and maintenance issues
- Required
- Bachelor's degree in any field; internships, campus leadership, coaching and entrepreneurial work count toward experience
- A record of meeting a sales, recruiting or growth goal
- Strong people skills with children, families, adults and seniors
- Comfort using data in Excel or Google Sheets to make decisions
- Experience at a JCC, YMCA, health club or other membership organization
- Background in fitness, aquatics, camp, early childhood or enrichment
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Office work with regular travel between JCC sites in Stamford and Wilton; valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to stand for extended periods at events and to lift up to 25 pounds
- Some early mornings, evenings and weekends
- Experience with a donor database
- Exposure to construction or capital projects
- Familiarity with Jewish communal life
- Office work with regular travel between JCC sites in Stamford and Wilton; valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to stand for extended periods at events and to lift up to 25 pounds
- Some early mornings, evenings and weekends
