The OpportunityChelsea Piers is seeking to hire a full-time Lead Early Childhood Teacher to join our CP Kids Early Learning Center team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety and well‑being of our daycare students from 3 to 5 years old. You will work closely with other teachers to develop and plan age‑appropriate lessons and play with the children.
This is an exciting role that will give you the chance to be creative and make a positive impact on the youngest members of the Chelsea Piers community.
CP Kids Daycare and Preschool is a nurturing place for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers to learn through play and actively develop their language, cognitive, social/emotional, and motor skills. Our 9 welcoming and inspiring classrooms, combined with the most spectacular sports facilities, provide unique opportunities for learning, fun, and community building right here at Chelsea Piers.
Primary Responsibilities- Create and implement a dynamic, creative, age‑appropriate curriculum
- Supervise Assistant Teachers
- Interact with children and engage in developmentally appropriate play and activities all day
- Engage in ongoing communication with parents about each child’s development via verbal and written communication
- Create and implement structured gross motor activities each day
- Plan and schedule the daily classroom activities
- Work and collaborate within a team
- Post written documentation along with evidence of learning (activities, projects, photos, etc.) on a weekly basis
Full‑Time;
Monday‑Friday; daycare hours are 7:30 am‑6:00 pm – you will work five 8‑hour shifts within this time frame.
Starting at $40,000 per year.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an education‑related field
- Minimum 1 year as a Lead or Assistant teacher in an early childhood setting or similar experience
- Lead Teacher certificate preferred
- Experience with children ages 3 to 5 years old
- Patient, exuberant and caring
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
