Outpatient Services Director - Child Guidance Center
The Director of Outpatient Services manages the Child Guidance Clinic of Southern Connecticut's largest program, the Child & Family Therapy (CFT) program. A multidisciplinary team of psychiatric providers, psychologists, master’s‑level professionals, and case managers deliver outpatient therapy to over 1,000 children and adolescents each year. This position plays a key role in implementing evidence‑based practices while fostering an environment that values, supports, and builds the expertise of our staff and advanced practice trainees.
Role& Responsibilities
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and supervision of program staff and trainees
- Develop and implement innovative approaches that improve clinical productivity
- Identify, evaluate, and implement evidence‑based treatments that address the needs of Agency clients
- Use data from quality‑improvement reviews and outcome measures to enhance patient outcomes and clinical productivity
- Collaborate with Intake Director to ensure timely assignment of cases, including victims and witnesses of crime and other potentially traumatic events
- Oversee contract clinicians and coordinators of specialty services, such as school‑based programs and group therapy
- Develop and conduct community education workshops in conjunction with the Director of Clinical and Community Partnerships, and publicize the Agency's services within the community
- Maintain the Agency's compliance with national and state regulatory requirements, grant expectations, and professional best‑practice standards
- Weekly surveillance over staff productivity, locked notes, staffing schedules and templates, and other relevant clinical requirements for clinical staff
- Attend relevant meetings, including Quarterly DCF meetings and OPCC meetings, as well as others as they emerge
- Lead regular meetings, including CFT meetings and CFT leadership meetings, as well as other regularly occurring meetings
- Provide patient care to children, adolescents, young adults, and families
- Other related duties as assigned
- Ph.D., Psy.
D., MSW, or another master’s degree in a mental‑health discipline - License in a mental‑health profession in Connecticut or in another state with ability to become immediately licensed in Connecticut
- Minimum 5 years experience as a supervisor or program director of children’s mental health services
- Demonstrated expertise in child and adolescent mental health, including diagnosis, evidence‑based treatments, and child development
- Experience implementing evidence‑based practices
- Verbal and written fluency in English required; bilingual fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or another language widely spoken in our community highly desired
- Experience working with families from culturally diverse backgrounds, and ability to demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, required; experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally
- Hours will vary; schedules range Monday–Friday from 7 am to 7 pm and Saturdays
- Minimal physical effort. Must be able to operate computer and telephone continuously. Regular regional travel as necessary
