ORGAN PROCUREMENT SURGEON – DEPARTMENT OF CARDIOTHORACIC

SURGERY, DIVISION OF ADULT CARDIAC SURGERY

The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Division of Adult Cardiac Surgery is seeking a candidate for an Organ Procurement Surgeon position. Duties will include participation in the procurement of heart, lung, and heart/lung allografts. The Organ Procurement Surgeon will be on rotating call for retrieval of organs. Travel by aircraft and ground vehicle is a required component of this position. Depending upon qualifications, the surgeon may also work as an assistant surgeon with the heart or lung transplant attending surgeons, assist with office practice, and participate in research and academic activities.

This position will be an integral part of one of the largest transplant programs in the U.S.

The desired candidate may be board-eligible or non-board eligible in cardiothoracic surgery. Individuals who have completed a training program in cardiothoracic surgery and are interested in additional training in adult cardiac surgery may apply. The candidate must have demonstrated clinical ability and experience to perform duties and responsibilities outlined above and work effectively in a surgical service environment. Clear verbal communication skills are a must.

The expected base pay for this position is $153,000 to $210,000 a year. This amount reflects base pay and may not include all components of compensation or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs. Stanford University has provided a pay amount representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position.
