About the Position

Assistant Coach, Field Hockey at Stanford University. The position is an on‑site, six‑month fixed‑term role supporting the Head Coach in coaching duties, administration, recruiting, training, practice, team management, budgeting, and travel. The coach will also participate in summer camp operations in accordance with institutional and NCAA regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Practice design of goalkeeper training sessions, assessment, and individual growth plans.
  • Assist the Head Coach with defensive principles and defensive unit play.
  • Daily coding and video sessions; game day coding/filming.
  • Manage daily operational tasks including team travel, meals, and equipment.
  • Support a healthy team culture that promotes growth mindset, self‑less teamwork, personal and team integrity, and competitive greatness.
  • Plan and organize team training and practice sessions, using video analysis to provide feedback to players within NCAA regulations and respecting the academic demands of student‑athletes.
  • Identify, assess, and recruit top student‑athletes to compete at Stanford within NCAA and university admission expectations.
  • Coordinate organization of visiting teams, recruits, and other parties.
  • Participate in Department of Athletics education and activities, including regular coaches’ meetings, staff meetings, compliance education, and fundraising and alumni outreach activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or her designee.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Collegiate or professional coaching experience required;
    Division I experience preferred.
  • 1‑3 years of experience coaching field hockey.
  • Strong interpersonal skills working with student‑athletes, peers, and the general public.
  • Computer literacy with common office applications such as Word, Excel, G‑Suite, Hudl, or Sports Code.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all rules and regulations of Stanford University, the NCAA, and the Atlantic Coast Conference.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and personnel in the Department of Athletics, the University, and the community.
  • Coaching soccer does not qualify for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected pay range for this position is $72,000 – $76,000 per annum.
