Overview
A vacancy is being created for a Financial Controller for a successful family-owned company in the transport sector. The position will be responsible for managing a small finance team and will report to the directors.

- Producing monthly management accounts, and running a weekly payroll, using Sage
50 Accounts and Sage
50 Payroll. - Correspondence with HMRC including PAYE submissions and VAT Returns.
- Liaise closely with the company’s financial accountants, who will complete statutory accounts.
- Although the final accounts output is on Sage, some of the accounting functions also use other industry specific software. Training will be given with regard to these applications, and you will be expected to work with other accounts team members to learn more about this, and how they integrate into Sage.
- As well as the FC over-arching role, the FC should be well versed in aspects of Sage Bookkeeping and be able to step in and cover for bookkeeping tasks when necessary.
- Undertake any other ad-hoc tasks within a financial remit which may be required from time to time.
- This new role will be an important part of the company’s management team.
Hours are up for discussion and could range from Part Time (24 hours per week) to Full Time (40 hours per week).
SalarySalary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The CandidateEither qualified or studying for an accounting qualification. Or someone qualified by relevant experience would be considered.
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role, with some management experience would be advantageous.
It will be important to have a presence in the office to build a strong finance team. However, some working remotely could be agreed from time to time, although this will not be the norm.
