Role Overview
The Paediatric Psychology team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is recruiting a permanent Clinical Psychologist to join our growing Clinical Health Psychology Department. This opportunity involves a split post between the 0‑18 Autism Assessment Pathway and the wider paediatric psychology services (currently commissioned into Paediatric Diabetes and Burns). The role is based across the Mid Yorkshire Teaching Hospitals sites at Pinderfields General Hospital, Dewsbury District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary.
ResponsibilitiesAs part of the 0‑18 Autism Assessment service, you will join a large multidisciplinary team comprising psychologists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and community paediatricians. Your duties will include completing specialist triage and assessment for children and families referred through the Autism Assessment Pathway, conducting individual and family assessments as part of the wider MDT assessment process, and working both independently and jointly with the MDT (e.g., school visits, observation, involvement with childrens’ services and other agencies).
You will also attend MDT meetings and provide supervision, training and teaching to staff.
Within the wider Paediatric Psychology service you will work alongside broad MDTs comprising paediatricians, surgeons, specialist nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Your role will involve undertaking triage, assessment, and intervention with children and young people and their families referred into the service, while also engaging in joint working, consultation and liaison within teams. You will have opportunities for involvement in service development and evaluation, audit and teaching/training across both services.
