Job Purpose and Summary

Within our Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Provide positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, such as delivering personalized service at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and by phone, and offering immunizations and other services at the register.
  • Perform basic inventory activities, such as correctly putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories as directed by pharmacy leadership.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek feedback, and expand clinical and technical knowledge to better assist patients.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to stores as required.
  • Understand and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and CVS policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services, such as immunizations and point‑of‑care testing, where allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.
Pharmacy Technician Immunizer Responsibilities (when applicable)
  • Obtain Technician Immunizer status following state Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Educate patients on vaccine importance and refer questions to the on‑duty Pharmacist.
  • Monitor and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
  • Collect, review, and document patient vaccination information.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with applicable state Board of Pharmacy requirements (age, education, licensure/certification).
  • If no minimum age is specified, be at least 16 years old.
  • If no minimum educational requirement is specified, have a high‑school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high‑school or equivalency program.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state;  to learn more.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Maintain focus and concentration on tasks, label accuracy, and patient safety.
  • Provide excellent customer service and team orientation; help people kindly and respond appropriately to patient reactions.
  • Communicate effectively, using verbal and written skills, active listening, and precise instruction.
  • Apply mathematical reasoning to calculate prescription quantities accurately.
  • Resolve problems efficiently, choosing appropriate solutions for challenging interactions.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching overhead, and operating machines with precision.
  • Carry out any additional tasks as directed by a supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations, as business needs dictate.
Hourly Pay Range

Base hourly rate: $16.00 – $24.00
