Overview

Coherent Corp. is seeking an Operator to support clean room activities in semiconductor manufacturing. The role involves defect identification, data entry, and participation in process development and quality tests within a clean room environment. This position may require cross-training across departments and occasional weekend hours.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify and note defects on wafers, analyze production material, and accurately log material information.
  • Data entry on various manufacturing platforms.
  • Scan wafers using a scope; visually identify and record material defects (quality checks).
  • Measure wafers on a five-point grid and collect data using the grid.
  • Clean the wafer following all department processes and safety protocols.
  • Support clean room experiments as part of engineering-directed, contract, or internally funded process development programs; participate in tool testing, process developments, and quality tests.
  • Participate in and document new or upgraded clean room procedures and specifications as they are prepared for deployment; follow all documentation processes for standard, test, or modified processing when applicable.
  • Contribute to the implementation and execution of clean room process development plans and provide feedback as needed.
  • Support the training of new employees assigned to clean room activities.
  • Carry out a satisfactory, documented preventative maintenance program for areas assigned to clean room activity; understand and comply with SOPs for assigned workstation/materials.
  • Maintain semiconductor production work areas and strive for high workstation efficiency.
  • Cross-training in multiple departments may be required.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Must be able to work weekend hours. Overtime may be required.
  • Experience with networked PC-based systems (Excel, Email, and MRP).
  • Technically inclined with mechanical skills.
  • Experience with problem analysis and resolution and with reporting and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures while contributing suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with 5S is a plus but not required.
  • Possess a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and competency.
Skills
  • Leadership capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with other members of Coherent Corp.
Working Conditions
  • Good working conditions.
  • Closed heel/toe shoes required.
  • Long pants and socks must cover ankles.
Physical Requirements
  • Good hand dexterity.
Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards, including the use of appropriate PPE as required by the job responsibilities. Managers will ensure safety and environmental procedures are followed, risk assessments are performed, proper training and work instructions are provided, required PPE is available, and compliance is monitored.

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
