Provides general medical care to patients, within the scope of applicable licensure, as directed by clinicians of the John
C. Longest Student Health Center.
Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.
Responsibility- Gathers medical history from patient.
- Interviews patients, measures vital signs and records information in patient's chart.
- Prepares examination rooms for patients.
- Assists clinicians with examinations.
- Conducts vision and hearing tests.
- Changes dressings, administers IV's, medications, and injections if within scope of license.
- Performs PEAK tests and administers nebulizer treatment.
- Performs x‑ray procedures per established protocols and training.
- Makes referral appointments for patients.
- Calls in prescriptions to pharmacies, faxes reports to others doctors and to hospitals.
- Maintains inventory of supplies, restocks examination rooms and trauma room with instruments and other supplies.
- Maintains current BLS and OSHA certifications, participates in assessment and quality improvement programs.
- At least one year experience as a nurse in a clinical setting.
- Current Mississippi license as a Registered Nurse.
- Degree from an accredited nursing program.
- Work experience above the minimum required performing related duties.
- Certification in ACLS, college health nursing, or office x‑ray.
- BSN degree.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discipline.
- Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively work in a fast‑paced environment with multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to foster teamwork with willingness to demonstrate life‑long learning for professional growth as a medical professional.

- Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, blood and blood products.
- Potential for injury from needles and other sharp objects.
- Potential for injury from chemicals.
- Possible exposure to radiation from x‑ray.
