Qualifications Needed- 1-3 years of experience in outdoor recreation, environmental science, environmental education, or related field and a High School Diploma/GED; or Bachelor’s Degree in Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Education, Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management, Environmental Science, or related field
- Strong coordination, correspondence, and time management skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and early mornings
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania Natural History, Outdoor Recreation, Ecology, and Conservation is preferred
- Active Wilderness First Aid Certification is preferred
- Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle for transportation to and from work and meetings
High school diploma or GED (Required)
Experience Level1-3 years of experience in outdoor recreation, or related field; or Bachelor’s in Outdoor Recreation, Environmental Education, or related field
Responsibilities- Assist in the coordination of Centred Outdoors events and activities, including the scheduling of dates and locations, partners, volunteers, and activity leaders.
- Host Centred Outdoors programs by guiding educational hikes with relevant topics for each location; designing and hosting other community-oriented outdoor programs; providing prompt, courteous customer service to all participants; ensuring the safety and well-being of program participants in remote locations; and clearly communicating and representing Clear Water Conservancy’s mission at all public events
- Assist in the implementation, growth, and diversification of the Centred Outdoors Outdoor Leadership Cohort
- Work closely with Centred Outdoors staff and volunteers to build a welcoming and respected presence in the community
- In collaboration with the Program Coordinator, help foster and create relationships and partnerships with local organizations to collaborate and offer a diverse array of future programs and events
- Provide back-up to the rest of the Clear Water Outreach team as requested or necessary, such as answering general inquiry telephone calls and supporting events or outreach opportunities.

- Conservancy seeks a committed, enthusiastic, and community-oriented Assistant Coordinator to assist the Program Coordinator in the overall administration, planning, and execution of Centred Outdoors and related programming. The ideal candidate will play an instrumental role in supporting the expansion of our education and outreach programs, developing high-quality programming and generating innovative ideas for future program growth. A successful candidate will display exceptional awareness and understanding of the environmental & outdoor education industry, as well as a desire to transfer this knowledge into culturally relevant, place-based, and community-centered programs.
- In addition to office work, the Centred Outdoors Assistant Program Coordinator will spend time in the field, at community events, at community meetings, and at Clear Water hosted events. Local travel within Clear Water’s service area of Centre and surrounding counties, using a personal vehicle, is often required. Infrequent overnight travel within the state or the country for professional development is not required but may be helpful.
- The responsibilities of this position require indoor desk work, the ability to comfortably hike on uneven and/or steep terrain, the ability to comfortably hike up to 8 miles, and the ability to physically manage supplies for tabling and other events while navigating uneven outdoor terrain, climbing stairs, and lifting at least 30 lbs.
