Job Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Technician III (BMET III) is an advanced-level technical role responsible for maintaining, repairing, and calibrating a wide range of biomedical and life-support equipment. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to operate independently while mentoring junior technicians. A BMET III plays a key role in supporting patient care by ensuring all clinical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards.

- Assemble, repair, and maintain electronic devices per specifications
- Service and repair life-support and high-risk patient care and diagnostic equipment
- Support scheduled maintenance programs, assign work orders, and ensure accurate documentation
- Document all activities within the computerized maintenance system and provide regular updates
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions in accordance with technical specifications
- Research, order, and track required parts for repairs and maintenance
- Provide technical training and in-service support to facility staff on equipment use
- Demonstrate cost awareness and responsible use of resources
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, clinical staff, and vendors
- Mentor Biomedical Technicians and apprentices
- Meet department performance standards consistently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace
- Adhere to facility policies and procedures
- Supervise or coordinate OEM or vendor technicians during on-site service
- Collaborate with leadership to support professional growth and skill advancement
Education & Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical certificate or DOD training required
- College degree or advanced certification related to biomedical technology preferred
Experience
- 35 years of experience servicing medical equipment in a hospital environment
