The ideal candidate for this Crane Operator role must be NCCCO certified, demonstrating the highest standard of safety, skill, and professionalism required for operating telescopic boom and tower cranes.
Duties And Responsibilities- Unload and set up all crane types on job sites.
- Perform daily maintenance and periodic inspection of cranes and booms to ensure safe operation.
- Inspect crane components, including wire rope, sheaves, hydraulics, and other essential parts.
- Read and interpret load charts, and set up load indicating equipment as required.
- Operate cranes safely to assist with concrete work and building activities such as placing rebar, pouring concrete, and placing/removing form systems.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks, as necessary.
- Properly disassemble cranes and load for shipment upon job completion.
- Place and secure loads on boom truck beds correctly for transport.
- Safely drive cranes from one job site to another when required by the job scope.
- Conduct site inspection to ensure proper set‑up and verify clearances, including checking for utility interferences.
- Select, inspect, and use proper rigging for each lift.
- Communicate and interpret crane hand signals.
- Maintain proper care and maintenance of all assigned company equipment.
- Adhere to OSHA crane regulations and all company safety policies.
- Work overtime, night shifts, Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays as job needs dictate.
- Perform additional assignments and duties as directed by supervisor.
- Must have a valid NCCCO Certification for Telescopic Boom Cranes (Swing Cab TLL, Fixed Cab TSS) or Tower Crane (TWR).
- Valid Crane Operator’s Certification for Pennsylvania or willingness to attend certification classes.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company standards.
- Preferred:
Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Airbrake endorsement. - Meet Leonard S. Fiore Inc. minimum hiring standards for CDL drivers.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience operating hydraulic or conventional cranes or similar equipment preferred.
- Current OSHA 10‑hour certification preferred.
- Can safely lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, stairs, and climb out of ditches.
- Must wear proper protective equipment at all times.
- Proper setup of various crane types.
- Site inspection for clearances and utility interference.
- Inspection of crane components, including wire rope, sheaves, and hydraulics.
- Selection and inspection of rigging and load indicating equipment.
- Understanding of crane hand signals.
- OSHA crane regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to accurately read and apply load charts.
