Our Satellite Ground Systems team develops advanced software that ensures reliable communication, surveillance, and defense capabilities through cutting‑edge satellite systems. This role requires an onsite presence in our State College, PA office.
What You Will Do- Design, develop, and maintain advanced software applications for our Satellite Ground Systems.
- Collaborate closely with systems engineers, hardware designers, and other software engineers to deliver reliable and high‑performance software solutions.
- Design, implement, and test Java and Python based applications and software components for satellite ground systems.
- Work in parallel with legacy platform teams to migrate workloads onto new pipelines.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define software requirements and specifications.
- Modify existing code as necessary.
- Ensure software performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and system integration activities.
- Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones under supervision.
- Follow established software processes and procedures, documentation, and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements, interfaces, and other engineering artifacts.
- Learn the workings of satellite ground systems.
- Work with new tools to stay state‑of‑the‑art.
- Active and transferable Top Secret security clearance that can be elevated to TS/SCI prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required.
- A STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Two years of experience in object‑oriented software design and development using Java or C++ in a Linux or UNIX environment.
- Experience using unit testing tools such as JUnit.
- Experience with Python.
- Experience developing software in an Agile/Dev Ops environment.
- Experience in a Dev Ops environment using Docker, Kubernetes, Maven, Jira, Git, Bit Bucket, and Confluence.
- Experience with Sonar Qube.
- Experience with SQL.
- Experience in an Agile Development environment.
- Security+ certification.
- Experience with satellite communication systems and protocols.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices in defense or aerospace settings.
- Master’s degree in STEM.

Salary range
: $66,000 – $130,000 USD (USD). The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether the position is covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and depend on a variety of factors including performance.
