Research Data Management Specialist

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is searching for a highly motivated Research Data Management Specialist to join our Algorithms, Prototyping, and Integration (API) Department. The position may be located in State College, Pennsylvania or Reston, Virginia and will report to the API Department Head.

• Evaluate, assemble, and maintain data and data‑management solutions for research teams.
• Provide consulting on data‑management processes including data retrieval, processing, storage, verification, and quality control.
• Program and test automated data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes and applications using industry‑standard tools.
• Integrate analytical tools with the ETL data pipeline to solve research problems posed by stakeholders and the data science team.

• Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of related experience (or equivalent education/experience) for the Advanced Professional level; higher levels require additional experience or education.
• Experience with data‑flow automation using NiFi, Postgre
  
  SQL, PostGIS, and Python programming.

• Python programming expertise (or additional FastAPI experience).
• Security+ certification or similar.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance.

The salary range for this position is $56,200.00 – $, which may be impacted by geographic differential.
