Shift supervisor, Retail

As a Shift Supervisor you'll lead friendly, super knowledgeable associates on the floor, ensuring every customer leaves educated and satisfied. You'll run shifts with positivity and professionalism, balance customer service with strict compliance, and help create unique customer journeys that build longterm community trust.

Core responsibilities include:
- Lead and support the retail team during assigned shifts (opening, peak, and closing duties)
- Deliver and model high quality customer service and product education
- Ensure full compliance with state/local cannabis regulations (age verification, product handling, METRC/seedtosale procedures as required)
- Manage POS transactions and cash handling, reconcile tills, and complete shift reports
- Assist with inventory counts, restocking, and loss prevention
- Coach, train, and provide realtime feedback to associates; escalate performance or operational issues to management
- Maintain store presentation, merchandising, and a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff

Salary

$19 - $22 USD per hour

Required Skills

- Must be at least 21 years old
- Minimum 1 year of retail or hospitality supervisory/leadership experience (cannabis experience preferred)
- Strong customer service orientation with proven ability to handle high volume, customer facing interactions
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills
- Accurate cash handling and POS system experience
- Basic math and inventory reconciliation skills
- Knowledge of (or ability to quickly learn) state/local cannabis compliance and  procedures
- Reliable, flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to deescalate customer issues and handle difficult situations calmly
- Ability to lift and move product boxes (up to 4050 lbs) and be on your feet for extended periods
- Authorization to work in this jurisdiction and pass background checks as required by law

Desired Skills

- Prior experience in cannabis retail, including familiarity with METRC or other seedtosale systems
- Experience training or mentoring frontline staff
- Familiarity with merchandising, SKU organization, and FIFO inventory practices
- Comfort using scheduling tools and basic spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets)
- Bilingual ability (Spanish or other community languages)
- Certification in First Aid/CPR or OSHA training
- Passion for community engagement and local outreach initiatives
- Sales driven mindset with ability to meet shift goals and promote promotions or loyalty programs
