District Support Pharmacist (DSP)
District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy. As a DSP, you will act as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. You will support pharmacist scheduling gaps, oversee pharmacy operations, and serve as a proxy for the Pharmacy Manager during bench shifts.
Responsibilities- Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator; oversee the pharmacy and act as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team accordingly.
- Assume day‑to‑day duties of the Pharmacy Manager when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, and proactively resolving insurance/medication issues.
- Offer and deliver immunizations, engaging Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, guiding the team on best practices with a focus on protecting cold‑chain products.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
- Keep clinical and technical skills current through required trainings, CMEs, and continuous learning opportunities.
- Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permits, empowering holistic patient care.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and professional regulations, CVS Health policies, and controlled substance procedures to protect patient safety and privacy.
- Travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.

- Use math to solve dispensing problems (e.g., tablet counts, supply calculations).

- Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
- Physical Demands
- Remain mobile, lift, scan, bag items, reach overhead, and use fingers for detailed tasks.
- Occasional lift up to 20 lbs; frequent lift up to 10 lbs; occasional exertion of 20 lbs force.
- Perform any additional tasks directed by a Supervisor or Manager.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Anticipated Weekly Hours: 20
Time Type: Part time
Pay Range: $60.00 – $76.00 per hour (base rate or salary depending on position grade)
The pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
