The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will join the multidisciplinary staff and affiliated faculty of the Institute for Water and Health (IWH). The role includes co‑developing and conducting research projects focused on water quality and wastewater management, with a specific emphasis on risk assessment. Successful candidates will have access to state‑of‑the‑art laboratory facilities, resources, and IWH networks.
Responsibilities- Conduct self‑directed and directed research as outlined in contracts, grants, and externally funded projects.
- Design and implement high‑impact research projects covering topics such as the occurrence, fate, and transport of emerging microbial and chemical contaminants in water environments, microbial source tracking, wastewater surveillance, and more.
- Develop manuscripts and presentations that present research findings.
- Assist with the development, editing, and review of project proposals, presentations, and reports.
- Manage assignments to graduate assistants and student employees as needed.
- Oversee student researchers during field and laboratory experiments.
- Oversee data analysis and data management.
- Disseminate research results to scientific audiences through peer‑reviewed journal articles, conference presentations, and other media.
- Education: PhD degree in a relevant field (environmental health sciences, environmental engineering, microbiology, genomics, biochemistry, or similar).

Skills:
Excellent microbiological and/or chemical analysis skills. - Experience: Demonstrated laboratory skills in microbiological and/or chemical analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of standard water quality and molecular microbiological methods.
- Field experience.
- Experience with health risk assessment.
- Experience with modern data visualization tools such as ArcGIS and other relevant software.
- Experience supervising students and training staff on laboratory techniques.
