Support environmental compliance and Georgia Southern’s commitment toward good management practices. Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations, conduct inspections, maintain records, and respond to incidents.
Responsibilities- Respond to pickup requests for hazardous, universal, or biomedical waste and properly store/label containers in the hazardous waste building.
- Perform environmental compliance inspections and maintain accurate records; assist with data collection and preparation of environmental reports.
- Maintain compliance with annual training certifications, including Hazwoper, RCRA, and DOT, and pursue additional professional development opportunities as relevant.
- Respond to incidents, customer requests, emergencies, and site clean‑ups.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) or more years of related work experience.
- Functional computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or related applications).
- Consistent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Completed HAZWOPER training (40‑hour).
Associate’s Degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field. - Three (3) or more years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education, research laboratories, or environmental consulting.
- Experience in a higher education, research laboratory, or comparable institutional environment.
$18.12 – $22.21 per hour (non‑exempt, biweekly).
