Director of Music Ministry

Broad Street United Methodist Church, Statesville NC, a downtown church with a heritage of excellence in music and mission, seeks a gifted and dedicated individual to lead its ministry of music. Responsibilities of this position include: planning and leading the congregational music for 11:00 Sunday worship and special seasonal services, and directing the adult choir and handbell choir. Possibility of developing future children’s / youth music.

Church instruments include:
Austin organ [3 manuals/27 ranks];
Kohler & Campbell grand piano;
Malmark handbells [5 octaves]. Opportunity for use of church facilities for private/community music instruction. Familiarity with United Methodist worship and ability in various musical styles expected. Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent experience in church music preferred. Interim organist in place; however, director position can expand [with additional compensation] to include organist if appropriate skills and desire are present.

Part-time, 15 hrs. per week. Salary range $18, per year.
