Overview

GRANT FUNDED SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER (K-12) provides wraparound coordination targeting students’ out-of-school needs and services that address barriers to learning and achievement.

Qualifications:

North Carolina state licensure, at least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and experience delivering student interventions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist McKinney-Vento population with resource connections and remove barriers to education.
  • Focus on attendance/truancy process, engage parents, mitigate negative impacts on student attendance.
  • Remain current with school-based intervention research, use evidence-informed practices in service delivery to enhance positive educational experiences.
  • Provide crisis intervention services related to family violence, substance abuse, and behavioral disorders.
  • Engage in advocacy to ensure all students have equal access to education and services; conduct assessments and evaluations in accordance with family and student rights.
  • Develop appropriate short- and long-term intervention plans consistent with curriculum, student needs, strengths, life experiences, and social and emotional factors.
  • Serve on school-level MTSS teams with SBMH providers; provide evidence-based interventions.
  • Promote family support of students’ learning experience within context of multicultural understanding and competencies.
  • Assist students and families in accessing community resources.
  • Support, consult with, and collaborate with SBMH Therapists to address barriers and gaps.
  • Work with internal and external groups to develop programs or systems of care that enhance health, social, emotional well-being, and safety of students.
