Position Summary

The Sr. Construction Manager is responsible for managing and executing multiple outside plant (OSP) fiber network construction projects. This role oversees day-to-day field operations, manages contractor/vendor performance, and ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of driving results in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily field construction activities for multiple OSP fiber projects
• Manage vendors and contractors, ensuring adherence to project timelines, safety standards, and quality expectations
• Coordinate personnel, equipment, and materials to meet construction schedules and productivity goals
• Monitor and report on job progress, costs, and performance metrics
• Ensure accurate documentation of plant records, including as-builts and construction tracking systems
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior construction managers and other team members
• Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, permitting, operations, etc.) to ensure project alignment
• Maintain positive relationships with local and state agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and construction standards (RUS, NESC, etc.)
• Support long-term and short-term planning for network expansion and cost optimization
• Participate in continuous learning and industry engagement to stay current with FTTH trends and best practices
• Perform additional duties as assigned related to OSP construction and project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in telecom construction, OSP project management, or related engineering roles
• Strong understanding of FTTP construction methods and telecom network architecture
• Proficiency with digital construction platforms, CAD, GIS, and Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of RUS construction standards, NESC requirements, and OSP construction (aerial, underground, splicing, etc.)
• Experience with AutoCAD and GIS-based systems preferred
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background and MVR check
• Field-based with regular travel to job sites
• Must be able to work outdoors in various conditions
• Occasional lifting of equipment and materials required
• Flexibility to respond to construction issues outside of regular hours when necessary
