About Liberty Point Behavioral HealthcareLiberty Point Academy, located in Staunton, Virginia, provides trauma‑informed psychiatric residential treatment to adolescent males with complex emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges, including psychiatric disorders, co‑occurring intellectual disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. 42‑bed facility prepares youth for return to home, less restrictive environments, or independent living.
ResponsibilitiesProvide developmentally appropriate classroom instruction for students according to IEP/IPP goals, research‑supported methods, and Liberty Point recommended practices.
Implement the Behavioral Program, assess and document student behavior progress, and adjust strategies in consultation with the treatment team.
Assess students’ academic achievement continuously, document progress, and adjust instructional planning to maximize achievement.
Maintain consistent communication with staff, parents/guardians, and local education agencies.
Participate in professional development activities and institutional trainings.
Display a high degree of professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, parents, agencies, and the community.
Candidate Requirements- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Current Virginia or out‑of‑state teaching license in Special Education or General Curriculum K‑12, or a conditional Special Education license with a plan to obtain a professional license.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Preferred: Minimum of three years of classroom experience.
- Preferred: Current Virginia driver’s license.

Knowledge & SkillsKnowledge: Subject matter (Virginia Standards of Learning), theories of learning and teaching, methods of instructional modification, class‑management techniques, assessment principles, behavioral and social learning theories, data collection methods.
Skills: Deliver effective lessons, plan instruction, establish expectations, manage behavior, maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues.
Qualifications- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Effective use of full range of body motion.
- Complete Handle With Care and Verbal De‑escalation Crisis Intervention Training.
- Perform facility‑approved First Aid and CPR techniques (CPR, First Aid, HWC training provided during orientation).
- Present a professional behavior, appearance, and attitude in line with facility philosophy.
- Communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Maintain confidentiality.
