Project Designer – Staunton, VA

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Designer to join our Architecture team in our Staunton, VA office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high‑level professional services to our clients.

• Consult with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structures or renovations, and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction times.
• Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budgets.
• Plan layout of projects and integrate engineering elements into unified designs for client review and approval.
• Prepare scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
• Represent clients in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
• Administer construction contracts and conduct periodic on‑site observations of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans.
• Prepare studies and reports.
• Use computer‑assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans.
• Direct activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
• Resolve client problems and complaints and provide technical advice to project staff.
• Perform final quality assurance/buildability review of project documents.
• Sign and seal project documents prepared under your supervision.
• Understand and obey site safety requirements for construction sites.

• Knowledge of the art and science of designing buildings and structures, styles of design, and methods of construction of buildings and other physical structures.
• Read, analyze, and interpret written communication, specifications and drawings.
• Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals or government regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other discipline‑specific software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Ability to obtain an Architectural license in applicable state(s).
• Must complete training and testing for licensure within the established time frame.
