Job Duties
* $7,500 sign on bonus will be awarded to new hires to state service with a one-year written agreement required.
The above bonus is available for Registered Nurse II that are new to DBHDS or have not worked for at least one year for Department of Behavior Health Developmental Services (DBHDS).
Schedule:
This position works a set 12-hour shift on a two-week rotating schedule. Employees work 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week or vice versa. Available shifts are 7:00 a.m.
-7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.

Competitive salaries: RN II-Starting Pay from $79,572 and increases to commensurate with experience, education, and credentials. Total compensation including paid time off and benefits begins at $120,408 for this role.

* 1st shift weekend-$5.50 per hour
* 2nd shift-weekday-$5.50 per hour/2nd shift weekend/holidays-$6.00 per hour
* 3rd shift-weekday-$4.00 per hour/3rd shift weekend/holidays-$7.00 per hour

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental services support individuals by promoting recover, self-determination, and wellness in all aspects of life. DBHDS operates 12 facilities: eight behavioral health facilities for adults, a training center, a psychiatric facility for children and adolescents, a medical center, and a center for behavioral rehabilitation. State facilities provide highly structured, intensive services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or need substance use disorder services.

Western State Hospital may be just the place to practice your profession and contribute to health care. We are a 250 bed Joint Commission/CMS accredited hospital located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30 minutes of major university towns. Our new wings are scheduled to open by the end of March, which will add 56 beds to our capacity.
The hospital is well regarded locally and across the state, has provided consultation or working tours to seven other states regarding our Psychosocial Rehab "Learning" programs, effectively recruits and retains professional staff, and works actively within the hospital and with our community partners to produce good clinical and quality of life outcomes for individuals.
DBHDS is seeking dedicated, experienced Registered Nurse Professionals. A Registered Nurse II at DBHDS is responsible for providing advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, as well as nursing standards and regulations. Registered Nurses are also responsible safely implementing the use of Seclusion/Restraints including knowledge of physical/emotional risk factors of the patients served at the facility.
Minimum Qualifications
* to delegate and supervise nursing staff. Effective communication (written, verbal and sign).
* Ability to participate in interdisciplinary Ability team. Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
* Ability to work overtime due to staffing emergencies in a 24-hour 7 day per week psychiatric hospital which at times may mean working a 16-hour shift if and when necessary.
* Complete all annual competency training to include TOVA III with physical restraints.
* Complete and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers with the American Heart Association
Demonstrates knowledge of recovery/trauma informed care.
Additional Considerations
Bachelor's and Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution or higher education.
Psych Nursing experience preferred
Veteran or Spouse of Veteran
Bilingual - Spanish
