Our Staunton, VA facility is looking for a Roll Tender (Clamp Truck Operator) for our sheeting department. This role is responsible for operating the clamp truck to set up materials and supplies to allow the sheeter to operate efficiently. This role also provides assistance to the sheeter operator when needed.
Primary Responsibilities- Identify the correct material that needs to be moved to the sheeter.
- Remove the roll wrappers and prepare the roll for cutting.
- Maintain close communication with the sheeter operator so that the next job is staged correctly.
- Assist the sheeter operator in maintaining the sheeter.
- Maintain the roll storage area by keeping the area orderly and organized.
- Properly load and unload rolls in a manner that prevents damage to raw material.
- Operate/maintain forklift trucks and pallet jacks.
- Ensure that prescribed safety measures are followed.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient in reading and writing to complete required paperwork.
- Perform mathematical functions as related to required paperwork.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Thorough knowledge of safety regulations, occupational hazards and related safety precautions in the work environment.
- Operate a forklift, pallet jack and clamp truck.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Occasionally (1-10%) lift up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently (11-33%) lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently (34-66%) standing and walking.
- Occasionally (1-33%) bending, climbing, reaching above the shoulder and at waist or lower, stretching, twisting, carrying (up to 35 pounds), kneeling, grasping (up to 40 pounds), fingering and crouching.
- Frequently (34-66%) squatting, pushing (up to 70 pounds), pulling (jerking motion to remove cores), walking.
- Continuously (67%) standing.
- Not required to sit or crawl.
- Visual depth perception required.
- Must wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs and cut-resistant gloves. Per quality standards, a hair-net may also be required.
- Pay range: competitive.
