Sanitation Worker – City of Staunton

The City of Staunton Public Works Department, Recycling and Refuse Division, is recruiting for a Sanitation Worker to collect recycling and refuse materials from residential homes and business locations. The position works four 10-hour days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) with an occasional Saturday shift. The role serves as a back-up driver for trash and snow removal.

• Collect recycling and refuse materials from residential and commercial locations.
• Serve as back-up driver for trash collection and snow removal.
• Adhere to work schedule: four 10-hour days per week with occasional Saturday shifts.

• Must demonstrate strong character and work ethic and be physically capable of the following: ride on the back of a refuse truck for extended periods, lift 40 pounds regularly, up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and work in all weather conditions.
• Similar previous experience and Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) highly desired.
• Opportunity to advance to Sanitation Equipment Operator with attainment of Class B CDL, resulting in an increased hourly rate.

Hourly rate: $17.37. Excellent benefits.
