Title of Course

ECON 1P95 - Using Big Data to Solve Economic and Social Problems

Compensation

Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour.

Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ per hour.

In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Duties

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. Associated with the position of Teaching Assistant is a nominal workload of 60 hours per half-credit course. This nominal workload is normally made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time. The non-classroom work may include preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications

Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 80% in the course

Applicants must be at least a fourth-year student currently enrolled in an honours program offered by the Department of Economics and in good academic standing or have already completed an equivalent degree.

The successful applicant must have effective communication skills including the ability to explain subject material to students, be punctual in attending classes and regular in-person meetings on campus during normal working hours and be able to meet appropriate deadlines.
