Location: St. Catharines
Teaching Assistant – PSYC 2P15 (Abnormal Psychology) Position at Brock University to support the Abnormal Psychology course, PSYC 2P15.
Compensation: Undergraduate rate $23.30 per hour;
Graduate rate $36.67 per hour (effective 1
September
2026). Workload is 60hours per half‑credit course appointment, with 120 or 180 hours per appointment for 2 or 3 seminars, respectively.
Responsibilities:
Attend scheduled lectures and TA meetings.
Prepare seminar materials.
Proctor, grade assignments, tests, and examinations; provide written feedback.
Hold office hours and respond to student emails outside scheduled contact time.
Maintain accurate records and manage data.
Help students overcome difficulties related to course material.
Perform other duties assigned by the instructor.
Qualifications:
Completed or currently enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73 or 5F01 within the previous five years; or 3rd‑year BA/BSc with average ≥80 and course completed within five years with grade ≥80.
Clear and thorough understanding of the course content to explain all topics.
Strong writing and editing skills; thorough understanding of APA style.
Excellent oral communication skills.
Interpersonal qualities supportive of students and effective in leading group discussion.
Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
Excellent time‑management to cover required material during seminars/labs.
Ability to provide constructive feedback to students.
Willingness and ability to conduct seminars remotely.
Willingness to maintain contact with instructor, fellow TAs, and students via email and audio‑video or in‑person meetings.
