Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ hour.
Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ hour.
Duties
The number of nominal hours assigned to a Course Coordinator may vary from department to department and from course to course. Total stipend will depend on course enrolment but will consist of .2 hours x number of registered students. Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement.
Qualifications
1. Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or PSYC 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80. Previous successful experience as a TA or Marker in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.
2. Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics
3. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and oral); 4. Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data;
5. Must have excellent time management skills in order to mark papers within a constrained turn-around time;
6. Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style;
7. Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
8. Must be able and willing to present material/conduct seminars remotely;
9. Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and audio-video conferencing.
