OVERVIEW
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Rowing Coach to support both our Girls and Boys teams this upcoming school year. This is a part-time, 12-15 hour a week contract position commencing September 14, 2026 to November 9, 2026
, with the potential to extend into the Winter and Spring terms. This position will require before and after school and weekend availability.

At Ridley, our Coaches provide opportunities for athletes to develop their physical literacy and enhancing their fullest potential as student athletes. You will be responsible for coaching and training students aged 12-18 including athletic development, skill knowledge, travel supervision and attendance accountability.

Key accountabilities:

• Responsible for coaching and training students aged 14-18 throughout the school year including athletic development, skill knowledge, travel supervision and attendance accountability
• Work with the Directors of Rowing to facilitate Competitive and Development Programs within the Upper School
• Lead and support our athletes with the following training:oOn-water workouts in the fall and spring seasons (Sep-Nov and Mar-Jun; 6 days / week) oErg and Tank workouts in the winter season (Nov-Mar; 4-5 days / week)
• Ensure an on-water safety program for athletes
• Support regatta logistics, training camps, and special events within program.
• Attend team meetings as required
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RCA Coach/Performance Coach trained and/or certified.
• Minimum of 2 years of specialized training to ensure appropriate understanding of the various components of sport, team and athlete management
• Completion of the following NCCP course certifications are required:
Making Ethical Decisions, Initiation in Sport, and Making Headway
• Knowledge of strategic and tactical sport-specific systems
• Knowledge of motivational techniques, and approaches to practice and game management that minimize injury and optimize athlete performance
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification and Small Craft Operators Card.
• Demonstrated experience in managing/maintaining boathouse equipment including rowing shells, truck/trailer and coach boats.
• Demonstrated experience running rowing programs.
• Advanced knowledge of the Long-Term Athlete Development Program and be able to implement in a rowing program that includes students from grade 7-12
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Strong interpersonal skills with an open communication style
• Demonstrated ability to lead by example in providing a positive, respectful, compassionate, and professional environment
