WHAT YOU’LL GAIN:

Build a Function from the Ground Up:  Gain rare, high‑impact experience helping establish our internal training strategy and workshop curriculum from scratch.

Hands‑on L&D & Instructional Design

Experience:

Apply adult learning principles, design practical learning assets, and gain real exposure to the full training lifecycle.

1-on-1 Direct Mentorship:  Work directly under our L&D Lead to refine your skills, align your work with your personal development goals, and build your professional portfolio.

Network & Recognition:  Receive a formal Letter of Recommendation and verified Linked In skill endorsement after 6 months of active commitment.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The Volunteer Well is seeking a creative, self‑motivated Learning & Training Development Assistant to help us launch our internal volunteer upskilling initiative.

We believe in pouring back into the people who power our mission. In this role, you will help design and facilitate interactive, high‑value workshops (ranging from AI tools and digital literacy to core professional soft skills) designed to help our volunteers grow personally and professionally while supporting our community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on your availability and personal career interests, you can take ownership of or assist with the following key pillars:

1. Workshop Design & Content Development

Collaborate with the L&D Lead to research, outline, and build engaging workshop materials, slide decks, and participant handbooks for internal upskilling sessions.

Help design modules on forward‑thinking topics (e.g., practical AI prompt engineering, digital collaboration, communication, and inclusive leadership).

Turn subject‑matter expertise into digestible, actionable learning experiences for diverse volunteer audiences.

2. Facilitation & Event Support

Co‑facilitate live virtual workshops, leading icebreakers, managing break‑out groups, or facilitating Q&A segments.

With time and confidence, take full ownership of presenting and leading specific workshop modules.

3. Learning Operations & Analytics

Assist in creating and deploying post‑training feedback surveys and knowledge‑check evaluation tools.

Track participation data, analyze feedback trends, and synthesize insights to continuously improve future training offerings.

Organize and maintain our internal digital learning library so resources are easily accessible to all volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications

Background or Interest:  Currently studying or interested in Human Resources, Adult Education, Organizational Psychology, Instructional Design, or Communications (or looking to build practical experience in these fields).

Experience:

1-2 years of experience preferred but not required (this can be professional or volunteer experience).

Communication

Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills with a knack for making complex topics simple and engaging.

Tech-Comfortable:  Familiarity with digital tools (e.g., Zoom/Google Meet, Canva, slide design tools, or basic AI applications like ChatGPT) or a quick ability to learn new software.

Location:

Remote (Canada-wide)

Hours:

Flexible (~3 to 5 hours per week)
