Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a hard‑working and motivated  Field Technician  to join our  Materials Technology Team  at our  St. Catharines  office. This entry‑level contract position sits within a team of enthusiastic and dedicated technicians under the supervision and mentorship of civil and geotechnical engineering professionals. Full‑time roles are based on availability and seasonal demands.

Responsibilities

Completion of Quality Assurance and Quality Control materials testing services on‑site for various construction projects within Peterborough and surrounding regions.

Conduct compaction testing during site grading and back filling operations, including sampling soil and aggregates for laboratory analysis.

Perform concrete and asphalt sampling and testing for various building and infrastructure projects.

Support field staff in investigative work such as concrete coring, specialized testing, test pit investigations, and site data collection.

Qualifications & Skills

Preference for enrollment in, or graduation from, a civil, geotechnical, or engineering program. Other relevant education and industry experience will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

2–10 years of experience in a related discipline.

Strong interpersonal and customer‑service communication skills.

Capacity and willingness to learn new skills and testing procedures.

Valid driver’s licence and access to a personal vehicle to conduct daily site inspections.

Competence with Microsoft Office suite, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.

Ability to lift and carry 23.7 kg (50 lbs).

Willingness to work a regular 40‑hour work week and possible overtime up to 13 hours total per day.

Willingness to travel up to 200 km per day using a personal vehicle.

Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Valid work authorization for the full term of the employment agreement.

Compensation & Benefits
Hourly compensation at market rates. The salary range for this position is $23 – $30 per hour. The posted range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in major city centres; it may vary for other locations. Compensation is determined by skill, experience, qualification, and work location. We are committed to competitive pay and comply with all relevant pay‑transparency legislation.
