About the job
In this role, you will:

identify emerging opportunities to improve the sustainability of the provincial transportation system

lead, plan and participate in transportation research, policy, planning studies and projects related to environmental assessment and natural protection with a focus on noise, air quality and climate change

develop, recommend and implement transportation related environmental policies

review, prepare and present policy and technical reports to address strategic transportation issues associated with a focus on noise, air quality and climate change

plan and participate on transportation studies and projects that affect the province

provide advice and establish partnerships with stakeholders to work on transportation‑related environmental policy initiatives

review, prepare and present technical reports documents and evidence based recommendations to senior decision makers

What you bring to the team
Technical knowledge and expertise

knowledge of environmental management theories, practices, and land‑use planning policy to provide advice on matters with specific focus on transportation related air quality, climate change and noise assessment and mitigation

knowledge of environmental theories and practices related to noise, climate change and air quality to identify emerging issues and provide advice related to transportation

knowledge of noise assessment methodology and noise control measures along linear facilities

knowledge of transportation design processes, construction, maintenance and operations practices to lead and coordinate environmental studies and projects

project management knowledge and skills to lead concurrent project, studies and project teams

knowledge of environmental assessment and protection legislation to identify issues with a specific focus on air quality, climate change and noise mitigation

Consultation and advisory skills

You have knowledge of ministry and government policy development and planning processes, business plans and strategic directions to review, evaluate and provide advice on environmental policy issues

You can consult, negotiate and build effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders

Communication skills

prepare and present briefings, reports and analysis on policy issues for a variety of technical and non‑technical audiences

use computer software applications, including air and noise modelling software, to prepare and present reports and statistical analysis

Research and analytical skills

you have knowledge of data collection and can plan research methodology and strategy for complex policy research projects
