The Shaw Festival is seeking a Stage Manager for A Christmas Carol at Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. The Shaw Festival’s production of A Christmas Carol has been running every holiday season since 2017 in the Royal George Theatre in Niagara on the Lake. This year it be will staged at the Fleck Theatre at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.
The contract runs from October 13 to December 23, 2026, including one week of prep. Rehearsals will be held in Toronto. The stage management team for this production will include the stage manager and one assistant stage manager. Stage Management is part of the Creative Management Department and reports directly to the Production Stage Manager and Producer.
Responsibilities
• Creating a welcoming and supportive work environment
• Organizing and managing the safe and smooth running of both rehearsals and performances
• Liaising and communicating the production’s needs across all departments
• Creating and maintaining the prompt script and all paperwork required to ensure the safe running of a show
• Running Understudy Rehearsals
Qualifications & Skills
• A member of Canadian Actors’ Equity Association
• 5 years of experience working professionally in Stage Management
• Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• The successful candidate will have a thoughtful and precise approach to their stage management practice while being able to adapt to and work as part of a team
• Responds well to high pressure situations
• Experience working in a unionized theatre (IATSE) is an asset
