What Your Day Will Look Like:

We are seeking motivated and reliable Archaeological Field Technicians to join our fast-growing archaeological team for the 2026 field season. Working across southern Ontario, our team has extensive experience and knowledge conducting all stages of archaeological work — from Stage 1 background studies through to Stage 4 mitigations. Whether you are beginning your career or bringing years of field experience, you’ll join a collaborative environment where mentorship, professional growth, and creative problem-solving are part of everyday work.

Working with us means being part of a supportive, knowledgeable, and growing organization that values integrity, teamwork, and enthusiasm for archaeology. You’ll have opportunities to:

  • Participate in archaeological surveys, test excavations, and full site excavations
  • Gain experience with artifact collection, documentation, and site interpretation
  • Work on diverse and challenging archaeological projects across southern Ontario
  • Contribute to meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities
  • What You'll Do:

  • Participate in Stage 2 surveys, Stage 3 test excavations, and Stage 4 mitigations (teams will be deployed from our London and Etobicoke locations)
  • Experience artifact identification, collection, and processing
  • Assist with field notes, sketches, photographs, and digital records
  • Excavate and screen soil; carry, lift, and move loads of soil and equipment
  • Work in remote areas, uneven terrain, and a full range of weather conditions
  • Support Field Supervisors and Project Managers in daily tasks
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with Indigenous field representatives
  • Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a “Safety First” attitude
  • Have the opportunity to travel across Ontario, including multi-day overnight work assignments as required
  • What You'll Need:

  • Experience with physically demanding outdoor work
  • Ability to lift 30 to 50 lbs, carry 20+ lbs, and perform repetitive physical tasks (shoveling, troweling, screening)
  • Ability to walk or hike up to 10 km per day
  • Willingness to work long field days in hot, cold, wet, or rugged conditions
  • Ability to travel daily to variable project locations and convene at designated meeting points
  • Ability to stay overnight for consecutive days (per diem and accommodation provided)
  • Valid Ontario G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Strong teamwork skills, reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidates with the following may be prioritized:

  • Completion of an archaeological field school
  • An undergraduate degree or ongoing studies in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related fields
  • Previous experience in Ontario archaeological consulting (Stage 2–4)
  • Knowledge of Ontario artifact types
  • Ontario Archaeological Research License (asset)
  • Entry-level students and early-career archaeologists are welcome and encouraged to apply.
  • Projected Compensation $26.00 - $32.00/per hour.
