Location: St. CatharinesWhat Your Day Will Look Like:
We are seeking motivated and reliable Archaeological Field Technicians to join our fast-growing archaeological team for the 2026 field season. Working across southern Ontario, our team has extensive experience and knowledge conducting all stages of archaeological work — from Stage 1 background studies through to Stage 4 mitigations. Participate in archaeological surveys, test excavations, and full site excavationsGain experience with artifact collection, documentation, and site interpretationWork on diverse and challenging archaeological projects across southern OntarioContribute to meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communitiesWhat You'll Do:
Participate in Stage 2 surveys, Stage 3 test excavations, and Stage 4 mitigations (teams will be deployed from our London and Etobicoke locations)Experience artifact identification, collection, and processingAssist with field notes, sketches, photographs, and digital recordsExcavate and screen soil; carry, lift, and move loads of soil and equipmentWork in remote areas, uneven terrain, and a full range of weather conditionsSupport Field Supervisors and Project Managers in daily tasksWork collaboratively and respectfully with Indigenous field representativesFollow health and safety procedures and maintain a “Safety First” attitudeHave the opportunity to travel across Ontario, including multi-day overnight work assignments as requiredWhat You'll Need:
Experience with physically demanding outdoor workAbility to lift 30 to 50 lbs, carry 20+ lbs, and perform repetitive physical tasks (shoveling, troweling, screening)Ability to walk or hike up to 10 km per dayWillingness to work long field days in hot, cold, wet, or rugged conditionsAbility to travel daily to variable project locations and convene at designated meeting pointsAbility to stay overnight for consecutive days (per diem and accommodation provided)Valid Ontario G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.Strong teamwork skills, reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitudeEffective verbal and written communication skillsCandidates with the following may be prioritized:
Completion of an archaeological field schoolAn undergraduate degree or ongoing studies in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related fieldsPrevious experience in Ontario archaeological consulting (Stage 2–4)Knowledge of Ontario artifact typesOntario Archaeological Research License (asset)Entry-level students and early-career archaeologists are welcome and encouraged to apply.Projected Compensation $26.00 - $32.00/per hour.
