Joining the Human Rights and Equity Office
The GSVPeer to Peer (P2P) team is a part of the Human Rights and Equity (HRE) Office at Brock University. HRE is a resource for all Brock community members, which includes students, staff, and faculty. Gender and Sexual Violence Support and Education (GSVSE) is a key branch of seeks one social media and marketing peer assistant totosupport awareness, prevention, and education efforts related to gender and sexual violence (GSV) across the campus community. The Social Media and Marketing Peer Assistant will plan, develop, and deliverconsent andsocial justice social media content for theHRE and GSV teams. They will create posts, campaigns, and videos, conduct outreach to promote
GSV and HRE, staff drop-in hours for peer support and referrals, liaise with partners, research GSV issues, and prepare marketing materials.
The Social Media and Marketing Peer Assistant will be offered a 35-week contract of 10-15hrs/week from August 2026through April 2027. The successful candidateisexpected to be available for in-person program delivery (workshops and events) at the St. Catharines campus of Brock evenings and weekends will be required. The successful candidates will receive fulsome orientationand trainingincluding job expectations, understanding GSVin the context of Human Rights and Equityat Brock University, leadership development, community engagement, advocacy,as well as necessary information about Brock University.
The team members will report to and work daily with the Gender and Sexual Violence Support and Education Coordinator.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Social Media and Marketing Peer Assistantwill be involved in the following areas of work:
Develop, Design and Manage Social Media
Develop and execute a weeklyoptimalposting schedule (which will include posts about Workshop Series, Drop-In, events, andeducational andawareness posts) with the Gender and Sexual Violence Support and Education Coordinator for Instagram.
Possess a strong mix of organizational skills, to ensure all internal
GSV and HRETeam requests are executed and planned effectively, as well as creativity to ensure content is as engaging as possible.
Engage in professional conversationsin a professional manner. This includeswhen answering or directing incoming messages from various social media networks.
Ensure SJC social media cover photos, pinned posts, profiles, etc. are always up to date.
